SPECIAL ORCHESTRAL PROJECT 2026
Ouverture-Suite in G Major by Johann Ludwig Bach (1715)
This year's workshop will feature the preparation and performance of the Overture-Suite à 4 in G Major by Johann Ludwig Bach (1677-1731), a cousin of J.S. Bach. This exciting and elegant orchestral overture and dance suite combines elements of both French and German styles. Originally scored for chamber orchestra, it was written in 1715 during Johann Ludwig's tenure as a court musician in Meiningen, Germany. Our performance will involve many of the participants in the workshop, and promises to be an exciting culmination to this year's offerings. It will be performed on our final workshop concert and reception, on Saturday, June 13th.
