Susan Black has served as principal second violin of the SVBF orchestra for 19 years. She has enjoyed a long and varied career as an orchestral violinist, chamber musician and teacher. As Director of Admissions for Eastern Music Festival, Greensboro, NC (1986-1991), she worked very closely with the board, and more recently she served as Vice President in charge of programs for the Charlottesville Music Teachers Association. She co-founded the Waynesboro Symphony orchestra and served many years as concertmaster and board representative. In 2014, she founded the Albemarle Sinfonia, a Charlottesville string orchestra, which performs benefit concerts for such organizations as the Community Public Charter School and the Bach Festival. Ms. Black performs regularly with The Wild Geese Ensemble, teaches at the Waynesboro String School and maintains a large private violin studio in Charlottesville.
